Today is a day worth celebrating. Seriously, you should all be jumping for joy and wrapping presents. Why? It's the day the goddess of literature was born.
J.K. Rowling has been my idol since I was in kindergarten. Yeah, kindergarten. I started listening to the books on tape until I was in 4th grade and could actually read them through.
Harry Potter has been such a huge part of my childhood. Now, my sister and neighbors would probably kill me for admitting this, but we used to play a make-believe Harry Potter game every day after school. I was Harry's heroic cousin, Jennifer Potter. My neighbor Josh was my twin brother, Nash Potter. His little brother Jake was our little brother, Anonymous Potter (we thought we were so clever comming up with that name...). My little sister Kay had to be the only non-original person. She was Katie Bell.
Every day we'd meet up at the playground in our back yard, or at the neighbor's pool, or at the neighbor's treehouse, or at either of our houses to play this game. Rain or shine. If you asked me to tell you some of the adventures we went on, I wouldn't be able to because they all sort of blend together. Where we ended one day, we'd pick up the next (although I do remember this one time when we went in search of the giant squid in the lake on the grounds of Howarts....the pool....).
See? If not for Ms. Rowling, my whole childhood would have been dull and lifeless. So thanks, Jo. Thanks for letting your character Harry Potter be born 30 years ago from today. Thanks for making my life a little bit more exciting by creating a world of witches and wizards, where being different is always okay.

In Jersey Shore news, Snooki went to jail the night of the Jersey Shore season premiere. "Disorderly conduct," I think. JWOWW went to bust her out. Ohhh, what friends do for each other...There is still time to submit a sentence using all of the Jersey Shore nicknames to magicmeghan2@gmail.com for the contest! (P.S. I tried to find Snooki's mug shot, but I couldn't. Darnit.)
