ANYWAYS, I wanted to talk about something I experienced when I was away at what my brother refers to as "Jesus Camp." Most of the talks were centered around...well, s-e-x. "Don't do it!" was the big message there. I know it's a big thing in our generation, but I still didn't see the need to talk continuously to over two thousand teenagers about it.
My question is, why is that topic so uncomfortable for teenagers, even if they aren't doing it? Why is it something to awkwardly laugh about when it is brought up? For me, it's because I hear about abstinence so gosh darn much.
I go to a private, Catholic, all-girls school. Abstinence is the only thing that we are allowed to be taught in health class. I am so sick and tired of hearing what I'm not allowed to be doing. I'm a teenager, for goodness sake! Haven't adults ever learned that the more they say you can't do something, the more a teenager WANTS to do exactly the opposite? (The picture to the right is from Spring Awakening...an example of exactly what I just said).
But, to be honest, I do plan to wait until marriage. If you don't, WHATEVER! It's your life! Why should I tell you not to live it the way you want?
Until the next time I post, I hope all you Twihaters out there enjoy this trailer (again, sorry it's just a link...)
SPRING AWAKENING!!!
