Hey, I'm just kidding (about the barbecue thing, I'm totally serious about hating summer reading).
I just find it completely ridiculous that schools give kids homework over summer vacation. What's the point? I mean, if you're going to give us homework, at least make it something that will help us to remember everything we learned the past year. When I go back to school, I'm like a blank slate. I forget nearly everything.
But do you know the worst part about the summer reading? More often than not, the books absolutely suck. Like, for example, this year I have to read five books: Tess of the D'Urbervilles, House of Spirits, Don Quixote, Prayers for Owen Meanie, and Myths to Live By. I've only read Tess, House of Spirits, and Myths to Live By so far. You know why I'm so far behind? Because I was stupid and started with Myths to Live By which was the most boring book I have ever pained my eyes with. It took me the entire month of June to complete.
I say we revolt. Okay, so maybe not revolt, but protest. Sign petitions. SOMETHING! Don't let the man put you down!
Until next time, can I have your number? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kTFZyl7hfBw
