Quote Of The Week

"I'm not that good of a dancer, I'm more of an 'in the bedroom' kind of guy. I mean, I've got moves." ~Cameron Mitchell

Left, Left, Left, Right, Left!

Yes, yes it was just as I suspected. Many boys were there with their girlfriends. About five minutes after I got in the lobby, there were two such guys standing right by me. Poor unfortunate souls.

But you know what surprised me even more? There were dudes there with their mother. Seriously. I applaud them, but wonder how much they were threatened to go by mommy dearest.

The last thing I should mention about the audience was that there was a total hunk that walked in. He had marine outfit on...and I love me a man in a uniform.

Why do you think that is? I know a lot of girls who find men in the armed forces attractive. Maybe it's just so brainwashed into us from years and years of guys going to war to keep their "dolls" back home safe. I dunno, it's just a theory.

Alrighty then, I really ought to go do some summer reading now. Here's a video of our favorite little pop star getting nailed in the head by a projectile:

Ahhhh, Young Love...

GAHH! I know I haven't posted in a few days! I'm sorry! Would you believe it was because I was busy? 'Cause I really was! Cross my heart!

Well, tonight is the big night, everyone. Tonight is the night I get to see Phantom of the Opera live. I'M SO FREAKING EXCITED!

Anywho, I promised that this blog was going to be a place where I would write down teen issues as I observed them. I don't think I'm doing to well with that. It kinda just feels like on giant continuous rant. BUT, even though I observed this a long time ago, I thought today would be a good time to write about it, seeing as I'm going to a musical tonight.

About two years ago, I went to a Jonas Brothers concert. Yes, yes, I know. I was part of the evil empire. But When I was there, I couldn't believe how many teenage guys were there. It baffled me. I figured there might be a few guys there (maybe because they aren't exactly on the straight path of life...and no, I'm not judging), but there were like hoards of them.

I finally saw one teenage guy that I knew and asked him what he was doing there. He replied that he was there with his girlfriend. That's when it dawned on me...most, if not all of these teenage boys were there for their girlfriend.

Now, every place "girly" I go, I look for guys that are being forced to go with their girlfriends. One of my wise teachers once told me that teenage boys would NEVER set foot in a theater unless it's for a girl that he likes because it would be un-masculine (is that even a word?). I'm tending to agree with him. I'll report back to you tomorrow if I see any of this going on tonight at Phantom.

Thanks for your patience with me! Here's a video to show you how much I love you!

Websites, Websites Everywhere But No Place For a Link!

You know what I discovered today? I'm completely computer illiterate. Seriously.

Today my friend Sophia was over so we could set up a website/tech-y stuff for our school newspaper (because we're kinda in charge of it) and I didn't know what the heck I was doing half the time. Thank goodness there are really dumbed-down sites that guided us through everything...kind of like Blogger. It's a lifesaver, let me tell ya.

I've barely gotten accustomed to blogging on this website every day, and now I have to blog on the newspaper's website. I guess it's this new senior editors' thing we're trying. Woohoo!

If you want to check out the beginnings of our website and have any ideas as to what we should do with it, check it out at http://theelmleafonline.weebly.com/

We also have a Facebook page (The Elm Leaf) and a youtube account (http://www.youtube.com/theelmleafonline) so feel free to take a look at some of our videos and other such things!

URGHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!

You wanna know what my dad always tells me? He says that my mom and I fight so often because we're both so much alike. I don't know if that's true, but let me tell ya, we fight almost every time we're in a room together. Most of the time, I try to play it off like it's no big deal, pretend I don't care, but it takes its toll on me.

I really don't like having this kind of a relationship with my mother. Shouldn't we be, like, best friends or something? It seems like a lot of my friends are really close to their moms. Why can't I have that?

I bring it up because today my mom and I got in a huge argument. She yelled at me for not doing the dishes (which I really don't have to wash until after dinner) and I sassed back. Yes, I'm a sassy pants. Long story short, I am now grounded.

I would like to write a formal apology to Janet and Rachel because I couldn't make it to their parties because I'm grounded.

I would also like to write a formal request to have the fourth commandment repealed. Who's with me?

Be Our Guest, Be Our Guest, Put Our Service To The Test!

I didn't only grow up on Harry Potter, you know. I also grew up on Disney movies. And The Little Rascals and The Three Stooges, but that's a different story.

My first movie in a theater was Disney's 101 Dalmations. I almost died when I was eight and got to spend three days in Disney World in Florida. Even today I make my family go to Magic Kingdom one day every year of spring break.

I am a little bit different from a lot of the other 1990s Disney girls, though. I am not really a princess person. Don't get me wrong, I had all the VCR tapes of the princess movies, but they weren't the same as the tales of adventure or just good old-fashioned fun.

What I really love most about the movies is their music. I think it's all just so fantastic. Just the other day, I realized there was a huge Disney void in my life, so I decided to get 50 of the original Disney songs to put on my iPod (none of that Disney Mania crap...).

Wanna hear a funny story? Yesterday I was on Cleverbot.com and it typed, "Let's get down to business." Me, being the Disney junkie I am, decided to add, "To defeat the Huns," like I'll Make A Man Out Of You from Mulan. From there, we quoted the whole song, alternating between lines. IT. WAS. AWESOME.

So now I'm convinced Disney is following me. I shall not forget thee, Walt! I promise!

Gym. Tan. Laundry.

Why, hello again! I'm back with the results of the Jersey Shore contest, and a photo of Snooki's arrest (still no mug shot, though...darn!). Here's the winning sentence:

Okay, so here's the situation, sweetheart: don't be Snooki-ing around 'cause everyone's gunna be like "JWOWW!"

Great job! I was also sent a saucy little...well, I'm going to call it a Jersey Shore joke. It goes a little something like this:

Jersey Shore called...they want their domestic violence back.

I admit, it isn't THAT funny, but I cracked up when I heard it. New episode tomorrow! That's all for tonight, folks!

Live Long And Prosper, Trekkies!

You know, sometimes I have to remind myself that not all people on the internet are complete creepers. I have come to find that some are actually quite hilarious. In the good way, not the "oh my goodness, so-and-so is such a dumbass" way. A prime example of this is the goober who made "Voldemort Rememberance Day" on Facebook. I salute you, fellow Potterhead.

Unfortunately, some people think those who are the most epicly hilarious are nerdy and geeky and don't give them a chance. I find this to be a gross exaggeration. I don't descriminate against Trekkies, Star Warriors, Potterheads, Twihards, etc. I think they all rock.

There's just one thing I have a little bit of an issue with. A little while ago, my friend convinced me to check out this really popular site called fanfiction.net. Maybe you've heard of it...It's where uberfans write made-up stories about books, movies, TV shows, you name it.

Well, as I was searching through some stories from a book I'd recently read, I saw a story I thought I would enjoy (based on the written description). As I began to read it, it became saucier and saucier! Like, it was legit soft porn. WHO WRITES PORN ABOUT A NOVEL FOR TEENAGERS?!?!?!?! I mean, a twelve-year-old could have accidently stumbled upon that. You are going to corrupt the youthful innocence of children, fanfictioners!

Is it so much to ask you to keep it PG? Please. I felt so...dirty after reading that! Tone it down, please? Thanks. It's much appreciated.

SUMMER READING IS HELL!

Can I tell you how much I hate summer reading? Thiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiis much! Book barbecue!

Hey, I'm just kidding (about the barbecue thing, I'm totally serious about hating summer reading).

I just find it completely ridiculous that schools give kids homework over summer vacation. What's the point? I mean, if you're going to give us homework, at least make it something that will help us to remember everything we learned the past year. When I go back to school, I'm like a blank slate. I forget nearly everything.

But do you know the worst part about the summer reading? More often than not, the books absolutely suck. Like, for example, this year I have to read five books: Tess of the D'Urbervilles, House of Spirits, Don Quixote, Prayers for Owen Meanie, and Myths to Live By. I've only read Tess, House of Spirits, and Myths to Live By so far. You know why I'm so far behind? Because I was stupid and started with Myths to Live By which was the most boring book I have ever pained my eyes with. It took me the entire month of June to complete.

I say we revolt. Okay, so maybe not revolt, but protest. Sign petitions. SOMETHING! Don't let the man put you down!

Until next time, can I have your number? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kTFZyl7hfBw

I Do Not Like Green Eggs and Ham...

Sorry I didn't post yesterday. I had family come in from out of town, so I was chilling at the pool with my cousin. We also went to see that new ZEfron movie, Charlie St. Cloud.

They came to visit because my younger sister (I can no longer say little because she's going to be a sophomore in high school...) is in a community theater play: Seussical the Musical. It is probably the most adorable play I've seen. Well, alright, so that was the third production of that play I've seen, but it was still fantastic.

I love theater. I'm probably a bigger theater junkie than I am a Potterhead. No joke. I have a countdown until the day I get to see Phantom of the Opera at Playhouse Square in Cleveland (10 days!). I've seen Cats, Wicked (twice), The Lion King, Fiddler on the Roof, and Hairspray all done professionally.

While professional theater is fantastic, I still really enjoy a good community theater play. It holds a special place in my heart because the people in those plays all have a "day job." If you can, I recommend finding your own local community theater. If you aren't into being in the plays, support the theater by going to a production there every once in a while. More likely than not, it'll be worth the ten dollar ticket!

If you're in the Akron area, Weathervane is awesome! Seussical runs until the 15th, so hopefully you can make it to a performance!

Until next time, here's a video from Raywilliamjohnson. He's pretty BA. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jdAbpLooDgM
